Several people who have SkyeTek M1 modules have received them without any documentation or sample software, so in an effort to help my readers, I'm posting the documentation and demo software that came along with the development kit I received from SkyeTek.

The RFID read/write code works with a Parallax BASIC Stamp 2 microprocessor and handles communication with a SkyeTek M1 reader module through a serial data buffer IC.

This code is for the Parallax BASIC Stamp 2. It accepts RFID tag IDs from the RFID reader and checks them against a list of "allowed" IDs. If a match is found, the safe door is unlocked.

The RFIDGina.zip file is a collection of software used to setup your computer for RFID authenticated login. It contains the following files:

    PollGina.dll
    rfidPoll.dll
    RFIDAuth.exe
    RFIDGina.reg
    ReadMe.txt

* The chapter in the book mistakenly references a file called PolLib.dll in a few places. The correct file reference is actually rfidPoll.dll.

This update just includes an updated rfidPoll DLL file, so you'll still have to download the package above, then update your rfidPoll.dll file with the download below so it works with the new Phidgets library v2.0.8, released May 26th, 2006.

RFIDTest is a simple program that checks to see if a USB Phidgets 125KHz RFIDreader is connected to your PC. If so, it starts listening for RFID tags and shows a read counter as well as the last tag ID read.

It requries the latest Phidgets library to be installed. You can download the Phidgets library from the software/downloads section at www.phidgets.com

DooRFID is a simple software package for the USB Phidgets 125KHz RFIDreader. It monitors tag events and authenticates those tags against adatabase. If the tag is authorized, the 5v output on the Phidgetsreader is momentarily activated, allowing an electronic strike and/ordeadbolt to be unlocked/unlatched and therefore granting access to thetag holder.
